Mr. Gray brings more than 35 years of experience in the energy industry to our team. He currently serves on the Audit and Conflicts Committees of the Boards of Directors of Regency Partners L.P. and Rose Rock Midstream Partners L.P. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Cobalt International Energy, Inc., from June 2009 until June 2010. From 2003 to April 2009, Mr. Gray served as Chief Financial Officer of Colonial Pipeline, an interstate carrier of petroleum products. From 1988 to 1999, he was with Enron Corporation and Enron International where he held several executive level positions: Vice Chairman, Chief Financial Officer, and Chairman of the Investment Committee of Azurix, a publicly traded company formed by Enron. He was also with Transco Energy Company from 1975 to 1988 where he served as Vice President and Treasurer. Mr. Gray holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Wyoming and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana.
Executive Vice President
Mr. Lord has over 20 years of experience in public accounting, industry, and consulting. He began his career in the audit practice of KPMG LLP, serving as a senior manager in both the Houston, Texas operating office and the firm’s Department of Professional Practice in New York. Mr. Lord’s responsibilities while in KPMG’s national office were to advise engagement teams throughout the firm on a variety of complex accounting, auditing and financial reporting matters. He began his career in the energy industry in 1997, as a Senior Director at Enron. While at Enron, he held a variety of positions in the company’s wholesale, retail, and broadband divisions in both the U.S. and the U.K., including Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of one of the company’s largest divisions. Subsequent to Enron’s bankruptcy in 2004, Mr. Lord began a consulting career at Sirius Solutions, an international consulting firm based in Houston, Texas. His primary responsibilities at Sirius Solutions were to advise clients, principally in the upstream, midstream, and oilfield services sectors, on complex accounting and financial reporting matters. In 2008, he moved to Denver to build out the service delivery team of Sirius and grow the client base. Mr. Lord holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University and is a licensed CPA in both Texas and Colorado.
Vice President of Exploration & Chief Geologist
Mr. Hampton has 30 years of industry experience in unconventional gas exploration. From 1986 to 2008, he was President and Chief Geologist of Hampton & Associates, Inc. H & A, Inc. specializing in all aspects of CBM. He began his career with Amoco Production Co. (Denver) (1978-1986) and was instrumental in Amoco’s early CBM projects. He has worked CBM plays in most of the active CBM basins in the US & Canada and has been involved in many international CBM projects. He was also the founding partner of Hampton, Waechter and Associates (HWA), a CBM desorption (gas content) business, where he worked 1988-2005. He sold out his portion of HWA to his former partners in April 2005. From 1999-2003, he was a Consulting Project Geologist for JM Huber Corp., and from 1998-1999 he was a Project Manager for Pennaco. He has also consulted for many other oil and gas companies. Mr. Hampton holds both Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Geology from Brigham Young University.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Hoerler has 13+ years of experience in public accounting and the energy industry. Most recently, he spent seven years (2008-2015) at Gunnison Energy LLC (GELLC) as the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis where he was responsible for the budget, cash forecasting, and financial modeling process. In addition to the FP&A responsibilities, he was responsible for the marketing, insurance, and general business functions of the company. Prior to GELLC, Mr. Hoerler spent time with DCP Midstream as Treasury Manager where he was responsible for servicing outstanding debt, corporate cash forecasting, and debt modeling. Before joining DCP Midstream, he worked for Ernst & Young, LLP as an external and internal audit consultant. Mr. Hoerler holds a Master’s of Science in Accounting from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Business from Brigham Young University.
Mr. Sharp has 10+ years of experience in accounting and the energy industry. He spent the last year and a half at Emerald Oil LLC as the Controller where he managed the accounting department and was responsible for quarterly and annual SEC reporting. Prior to Emerald, he spent over three years with QEP Resources as Manager of Internal Reporting where he was responsible for the financial reporting and analysis for their five major divisions. Before joining QEP, he worked for Hein & Associates, LLP as an audit associate. Mr. Sharp holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Colorado State University and completed the Accounting program at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Director of Regulatory, Health, Safety and Environment
Mr. Gillespie is a licensed professional geologist in Pennsylvania with more than 30 years of experience in water resource management, hydrogeology, engineering geology, oil & gas, mining, and environmental risk management. At Inflection, he heads the team responsible for the development of the Area of Interest as well as the regulatory compliance, permitting, and health & safety programs. He sits on Pennsylvania’s Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists and represents Pennsylvania at the National Association of State Boards of Geology, at which he is on the Executive Committee. Mr. Gillespie is also a member of the technical advisory board for the Pennsylvania Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual and is a former officer in the Pennsylvania Council of Professional Geologists. In addition to his consulting career and his role at Inflection, Mr. Gillespie has been a Professor of Geology at numerous universities and provides professional continuing education to licensed professional geologists.
Director of Land
Mrs. Cyone has over eight years of experience in the oil and gas industry. She began her oil and gas career at the land service company of Precision Oil & Gas, Inc., where she held a variety of positions where her responsibilities included title abstracting, title review, lease acquisition, right-of-way acquisition, curative, and project management on projects located in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Mrs. Cyone spent three years with Precision Oil & Gas, Inc. before she accepted a Project Manager position with G&P Land where her responsibilities included managing multiple projects in several different counties concurrently as well as securing business contracts with new clients. After spending three years with G&P Land, she accepted a position with a natural gas midstream company, PVR Partners, now known as Energy Transfer Partners, in the Right of Way Acquisition Department. She joined the Inflection Energy team in May of 2014 as Title Manager in the Land Department. Mrs. Cyone holds memberships with the American Association of Professional Landmen, along with the MLBC Chapter of the AAPL, as well as memberships with the International Right of Way Association and the Northern Appalachian Landman’s Association.
Ms. Ahuja has over nine years of experience practicing oil & gas law at national and boutique law firms. Her areas of expertise include upstream oil & gas operations, complex title and property rights, and corporate governance. Prior to joining Inflection Energy LLC, she spent two years as Counsel and Land Manager at Gunnison Energy LLC where her responsibilities included general legal and business matters, regulatory compliance, and management of Gunnison Energy’s rights pertaining to federal, state, and fee lands. Ms. Ahuja holds a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.
